Either rescueing is the special kick in offroading or - as I see it - it is kind of a surrender in front of nature or a big mistake byf the driver. In most cases, the recovery of a vehicle of more than 3 tons demands al lot of sweat and muscles. Certainly, frieds - if available - will help you and so will locals. But still ...
I made the experience the rescue is not equal rescue. Whether a vehicle is stuck in the sand or in a Sibirian bog makes quite a difference (i prefer the first one). Therefore, also the respective equipment has to be adapted. A chain saw might be useful in wooden areas but does not make sense at all in the desert.
Often, your rescue equipment is more useful for the colleagues than yourself. Of what use is a front which when you are stuck head-on in a bog? Think about it. Or how do I free the car in a sandy, flushed steppe?
