Storage / Luggage / Fuel
I askded myself dozens of times where I can free up adequate storage room in my Zebra. Some trade-offs had to be accepted. A good solution is to build cabinets and other storage room in higher extent and to choose light weighted materials. I am always surprised that in many cases boxes and containers are built with 16mm timber just to pretend robustness. I put a big questionmark behind this attitude.
For luggage and other storage, two variations are available in priciple. Either you store as much as possible within the vehicle or you put a lot on the luggage rack outside the car so that you have some room for yourself in case of bad weather (and here I mean not just for the driver). As often, I had to make a compromise. The most important things like tool case and some spare parts I have in the car, the rest is on the roof (well balanced). However, even with this solution I have to put great attention to a tidy regime in the car. This saves you from long search and frees up room too. Also, I look for strict separation from trash and bread and butter. I am sure you know why.
